Your first visit
What to expect on the day
Most families leave the first appointment with a clear idea of what is going on and what happens next.
At the appointment
Dr Nagakumar will talk with you and your child about symptoms, past illnesses and treatments, then examine your child. Breathing tests may be done or arranged if they will help.
What to bring
- All inhalers, spacers and medicines your child uses
- Any letters, test results or hospital discharge summaries
- Videos on your phone of the cough, wheeze or night-time breathing. These are very helpful.
- Your red book for younger children
Referral and insurance
No GP referral is needed if you are paying yourself. If you have health insurance, check your cover with your insurer first. Most insurers ask for a GP referral and an authorisation number.
Afterwards
You will receive a letter summarising the diagnosis and plan, with a copy to your GP. Follow-up appointments are offered when needed.
